Through the consistent delivery of quality services and

Audacious Goals! Credit Acceptance is seeking an experienced and
strategic Director of Government Affairs to lead our legislative
engagement efforts at the state and federal level. This critical
role will shape and advance legislation impacting the Company’s
operations, commercial interests, and the auto finance industry.
Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Director of Government
Affairs will develop and execute strategies to align Credit
Acceptance’s business priorities with broader policy objectives,
fostering impactful relationships with lawmakers, regulators, and
key stakeholders. Outcomes and Activities: Legislative Strategy &
Engagement: Collaborate with the Chief Legal Officer and executive
leadership to shape and drive the Company’s federal and state
legislative agenda, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Develop the strategic direction for outreach, issue management, and
third-party engagement, including building lobbying strategies and
tactical plans and anticipating policy shifts. Engage state and
federal lawmakers, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to advance
Credit Acceptance’s interests. Monitor, analyze, and assess
legislative and regulatory developments, providing actionable
recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Establish and maintain a sophisticated network of relationships on
Capitol Hill and with attorneys general, state government
officials, and regulatory bodies to advance business priorities.
Representation & Advocacy: Serve as a respected and credible
representative of Credit Acceptance in key industry forums,
coalitions, and advocacy organizations. Facilitate collaboration
between the Company and local governments on projects, initiatives,
and partnerships. Manage crisis communications and reputation
management in the context of government relations in partnership
with the Marketing team. Political Action Committee (PAC)
Management: Establish and manage a Political Action Committee
(PAC), including building the program, designing and executing its
strategy, and overseeing fundraising, compliance, and reporting.
Hire and manage external consultants as needed to support PAC
objectives. Oversee PAC operations, including fundraising
activities, records management, and filing quarterly, mid-year, and
end-of-year Contribution and Lobbying Disclosure Reports. Represent
Credit Acceptance at political fundraisers and related events.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting: Synthesize complex external
dynamics into clear, actionable insights for the Company’s
leadership. Regularly communicate legislative updates and strategic
recommendations to executive leadership while collaborating with
internal teams to ensure alignment. Knowledge and Skills: Deep
understanding of the current political environment, policy-making
processes at the state and/or federal level (particularly the
legislative process), and the role of attorneys general.
Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with the
ability to translate complex legislative issues into actionable
business strategies. Strategic and commercially focused mindset
with a proven ability to synthesize external dynamics into clear
insights. Experience leading through change, making impactful
decisions, and driving team and organizational success. Ability to
embrace challenges, push for impactful change, and align
performance with strategic priorities. Requirements: 10 years of
experience in public relations and government affairs management
Fully remote position, but must be located in or near Washington,
DC Preferred: Juris Doctor degree Demonstrated record of success
lobbying the U.S. federal government Targeted Compensation:
$210,000 - $250,000 base salary an annual bonus plan LI-Remote zip

Required degrees must have been earned at institutions of Higher
