Position Summary The University of Georgia (UGA) College of Pharmacy and the Augusta University/UGA Medical Partnership in Athens are seeking a dynamic leader, innovative educator and established practitioner to fill the joint position of Director of Interprofessional Education (IPE) in the College of Pharmacy and Clinical Faculty at the Medical Partnership. The successful candidate will oversee all matters related to IPE including infrastructure, curricular framework and policy development, while working collaboratively with administration, faculty, and other educational healthcare partners to cultivate patient-centered IPE practice experiences. In addition, the Director of IPE will support teaching in the professional pharmacy program. As Clinical Faculty at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership, the successful candidate will be responsible for instructing medical students on the rational selection and use of medicines throughout the medical curriculum. Specifically, they will use their expertise in clinical pharmacology (CP)/pharmacotherapy to provide students with unbiased, theoretical and practical knowledge of drugs, their rational use, and guideline-based prescribing practice. Through instruction on how prescribing is documented within clinical settings they will also contribute to interprofessional education at the Medical Partnership, complementing their role as Director of IPE at the UGA College of Pharmacy. At the UGA College of Pharmacy, the Director of IPE will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. At the AU/UGA Medical Partnership, the faculty member will report to the Campus Associate Dean for Curriculum. The academic title and rank will reside in the Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy of the UGA College of Pharmacy, with an adjunct appointment in the appropriate unit in the Medical College of Georgia. A collaborative practice site will be available through the Medical Partnership's Internal Medicine Residency Continuity clinic. Additional Requirements --- Candidates are required to have a pharmacy degree (PharmD) with at least 5 years of clinical pharmacy experience ---Candidates must have a combination of education and experience that would allow them to be appointed to a faculty rank in the Academic Professional track https://provost.uga.edu/policies/appointment-promotion-and-tenure/guidelines-for-academic-professionals/ or Clinical track https://provost.uga.edu/policies/appointment-promotion-and-tenure/guidelines-for-clinical-faculty/ Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification --- Candidates should have at least 5 years of patient care / practice experience in interprofessional settings ---Candidates should be eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Georgia ---Candidates should have 3 years of demonstrated experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating IPE Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies ---Candidates should have demonstrated teaching, leadership, team work skills, and scholarly activity Physical Demands Does this position have financial responsibilities? Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Oversight on all matters related to IPE within the College of Pharmacy, including: ---Develop and implement an IPE framework that ensures academic excellence in IPE and compliance with accreditation standards. oServe as Chair of the College IPE Oversight Committee oServe as ex-officio member on the College Curriculum Committee. ---Develop and maintain an effective collaborative relationship with all relevant faculty, University groups, and local, national, and international IPE-related organizations and partners. oRepresent the College at appropriate University and distance campus organizations and committees related to IPE, including the UGA IPE Leadership Committee. oEngage current and potential stakeholders from state-wide colleges and universities in programmatic and evaluative work to develop a sustainable and fully integrated IPE program meeting the needs of various professions and partners. ---Provide direction for and input into day-to-day planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of IPE programs. oWork with Department Heads, faculty, and the Experience Programs to plan, develop and evaluate the IPE curriculum. oSupport the faculty in their efforts to implement IPE initiatives throughout the P1-P4 curriculum, including didactic, experiential and co-curricular offerings. ---Facilitate ongoing assessment and improvement of the IPE program. ---Serve as a catalyst for faculty research and scholarship related to IPE. Percentage Of Time 50 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Clinical Faculty at the Medical Partnership ---Work with the curriculum office and relevant directors and faculty to ensure provision of appropriate level drug knowledge and clinical pharmacology (CP)/pharmacotherapy which reflects current guideline-based practice across the curriculum oProvide content oversight for CP/pharmacotherapy to ensure teaching of relevant and updated guideline-based therapies oDevelop and deliver CP/pharmacotherapy active-learning sessions during related disease state modules for year 1 and year 2 medical students oProvide opportunities in years 3 and year 4 for medical students to utilize and reinforce CP/pharmacotherapy knowledge through Clinical Pharmacology Conferences (CPCs), interaction on clerkships, and/or other mechanisms ---Develop and maintain an effective collaborative relationship with all relevant Medical Partnership faculty to develop IPE activities with the College of Pharmacy and other collaborative educational partners oUtilize understanding and knowledge of Medical Partnership and the College of Pharmacy curriculums to bridge the gap between MD and PharmD students Percentage Of Time 50 Posting Specific Questions Required fields are indicated with an asterisk ().
