Job Description:

Techtronic Industries (TTi) is seeking anNVH Engineerto be a part of the Advanced/Analytical Engineering Team who will be responsible for state of the art sound and vibration developments in new product across all brands. TTi is an industry leading consumer products company with core product lines in handheld and benchtop power tools, outdoor products and cleaning products. This position will work within atrusted research and knowledge bank that accelerates and delivers technologically disruptive innovation and advanced capabilities to the end customer.Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with proficiency in NVH prediction, measurement, and mitigation with electric motors, gears, bearings, housings, fans, etc and have experience with experimental modal analysis, ODS, source identification, sound power, sound quality, & acoustic cameras.Experience with FEA, EMAG, and CFD is a plus.Position is on-premise, but some remote work is currently required.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be the NVH Subject Matter Expert for TTi Power Tool Division
  • Reduce sound and improve sound quality across an array of products through new concepts and improvements on existing designs.
  • Develop models to predict NVH levels of new or revised designs
  • Work with cross-functional teams such as motor, gearing, and testing lab teams to correlate NVH models
  • Develop and conduct Jury Testing to support sound quality efforts
  • Support design teams with:
  • Translation of customer NVH soft requirements into objective, verifiable product requirements
  • Sound and vibration measurement and data analysis
  • NVH source identification
  • NVH predictions utilizing EMAG & CFD software
  • Identification of NVH mitigation methods
  • Identify and implement leading-edge NVH best practices into the TTi design process
  • Document best practices and lead knowledge sharing sessions with subject matter experts and other practitioners within TTi globally and across our strategic brandsQualifications
    • M.S. or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace with a focus on acoustics and/or NVH
    • 5-10+ years' analysis experience required
    • Strong math and physics skills
    • Enthusiasm toward experimentation & simulation and a collaborative work environment
