MISSION:To provide Management and Associates with the technical guidance, oversight and support necessary to ensure a safe working environment and maintain compliance with applicable HSE programs, regulations and laws. Further perform or direct performance of all activities recognized to achieve / maintain HSE related ISO certifications.MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Manages and develops Plastic Omnium Health, Safety and Environmental policies
  • Identify all safety needs and develop programs to address them
  • Work with appropriate departments to implement engineering controls to mitigate hazards
  • Conducts/directs safety audits for manufacturing facilities and maintains required safety records
  • Develop and direct all safety training programs, including but not limited to:
    • Emergency evacuation procedures
    • Confined space entry program
    • Ergonomics program
    • Hazard communications
    • Bloodborne pathogen program
    • Regulatory Compliance
    • Monitors OSHA compliance and legislative and regulatory developments
    • Advises on implications of regulatory changes and makes appropriate recommendations on the same
    • Maintain all necessary records specific to Health, Safety and Environmental
    • Planning: Develop annual HSE goals and objectives at the plant level, based on POAE objectives
    • Promote safety awareness via various communication means
    • Provides feedback to relevant managers results of inspections, investigations, etc.
    • Provides written communication as needed
    • Ensure proper and complete investigation and review of all accidents / incidents
    • Report to Plant Manager, relevant Department Manager all matters pertaining to reportable accidents
    • Oversee workers compensation program
    • Present HSE Reports to Plant Managers and Directors as required
    • Manage Security contractor
      • Facility liaison directly to the USEPA, OPEMA, U.S. Dept. of Transportation, GADNR, etc.
      • Manage, develop, implement and maintain certification to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
      • Develops and applies for facility operating permits (coordinate with Engineering)
      • Manages all hazardous waste materials and hazardous waste programs
      • Conducts environmental audits for facility and maintains required environmental records and programs
      • Responsible for environmental training programs
      • Monitors and tracks active permit issues including corrective action programs
      • Coordinates and conducts all appropriate HSE training material We are an equal opportunity employer.           • Bachelors degree or relevant safety management experience
          • RCRA Certification and DOT Certification and experience
          • ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001 experience
          • Minimum 5 years of experience with environmental, health and safety programs in industrial setting
          • Excellent communication skills
          • Able to interface with all levels of the organization
          • Ability to learn the overall processes to each department
          • Ability to work flexible hours
          • Must possess detailed and current knowledge of OSHA, EPA, etc. regulations and programs
          • Good computer skills
