Job Description:
Summary
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a developmental role that
works closely with nurse manager to develop skills that demonstrate
leadership and creative approaches to complex patient care. The ANM
is an expert clinical nurse with an enormous background of
experience now has an intuitive grasp of each situation and zeros
in on the accurate region of the problem.

This developmental role candidate will be chosen from high
performers in their areas of expertise. Understanding evidence
based practice, CPI (continuous process improvement), lean training
and associated projects, committee involvement and other facility
level activities. The ANM shows progressive ability to execute
position responsibilities in anticipation of both temporary and
permanent role of a Nurse Manager.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or
certification/licensure requirements may be referred and

are met. Some Assistants Nurse Manager positions will require
specialized skills in the area in which they will be hired for the
developmental role.
Duties include not not limited to the following:
Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual
leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per
year)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and
federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care
(many federal insurance programs can be carried into
retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or
territory
Work Schedule: TOD will vary on the applicable duty location and/or
position selected for. Work schedule will be determined by the
department needs and availability.

Physical Requirements: Heavy Lifting (45 lbs and over); Heavy
Carrying (45 lbs and over); Straight Pulling (6 hours); Pushing
(6-10 hours); Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands
required; Walking (6-10 hours); Standing (6-10 hours); Kneeling (1
hour); Repeated bending (4 hours); Both legs required; Ability for
rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision
correctable at 13" to 16"; Far vision correctable in one eye to
20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Ability to distinguish shades of
colors; Hearing (aid permitted).
