Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and at least 5 years comparable experience in creation and maintenance of enterprise systems.
  • Higher education and/or accounting support experience
  • Experience working with technical teams, functional experts, and end users
  • Experience with the implementation of VMware solutions
  • System administrator experience for Windows or Linux
  • Experience with SQL Server, Visual Studio, VB .Net, and reporting/query/analytic tools (ex: SSRS, Tableau, Qlik, Cognos)
  • Working knowledge of VMWare and storage networks
  • Proven experience managing critical projects and/or platforms





    Position Summary
    The Assistant IT Director for Auxiliary Services aids and supports the efforts of the Auxiliary Information Technology department to ensure the integrity, availability, and analysis of Auxiliary technology to improve and enhance Auxiliary Services' ability to provide and deliver services to the University community. The Assistant IT Director provides primary oversight to the Auxiliary IT Infrastructure Systems and Infrastructure Support Teams.

        Operational Oversight:

        • Act as an expert in Infrastructure Systems and Security areas and the use of technology within multiple business areas within Auxiliary Services to provide guidance on executing and implementing project initiatives as directed by the Auxiliary IT Director.
        • Coordinate technology efforts among Auxiliary Infrastructure Systems and Support Teams and manage various operations resources, including equipment and the use of technical systems and software applications.

        • PCI compliance - work as a liaison with the university to ensure compliance of Auxiliary units.
        • Facilitate Infrastructure Systems and Security architecture standardization across all business units.
        • Coordinate with project managers to ensure IT projects across the Auxiliary Services division have assigned Infrastructure Systems and Security Teams resources and prioritize projects based on business and technology needs.

          Technical Oversight:

          • Guides development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic and tactical plans related to Infrastructure Systems and Security Support Teams.
          • Oversee, assess, and coordinate the Infrastructure Systems and Security Support Teams staff responding to support requests based on skill level and nature of requests to ensure client inquiries are resolved promptly.
          • Develop goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide professional development opportunities for the Auxiliary Infrastructure Systems and Security Support Teams.
          • Assist unit managers with the analysis of IT-related business problems.
          • Facilitate cross-training among IT staff across departmental units.
          • Maintain physical network and firewalls.

            Back-Up Support:

            • Represent the IT department internally as needed at committee meetings.
            • May act as a liaison with students and university community members to communicate the status of inquiries to IT projects and initiatives.
            • May provide technical support to the Auxiliary Infrastructure Systems and Infrastructure Support Teams during periods of high-volume requests.

              Infrastructure and system support & Other duties as assigned:

              • Troubleshoot and support both physical and virtual servers and local network infrastructure.
              • Implement applications using industry best practices.
              • Draft and maintain appropriate documentation on assigned systems and applications and/or provide recommendations for new applications or hardware to meet the needs of end users.
              • Ensure projects remain on time and within budget.
              • Modify and enhance server hardware or applications based on client or Auxiliary needs.
              • Monitor, respond, and resolve support requests as needed.
              • Provide support outside of regular business hours for special events and major events that require on-site support.
