Position Information Classification Title Development/Fundraising Professional Pay Grade FLSA Job Family Development FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working in a fundraising role in a higher education setting in which they were expected to meet specific monthly and annual metrics for items such as face-to-face visits, dollars raised, and additional interactions with prospects. Position Summary The University of Georgia College of Education seeks an Associate Director of Development to engage alumni, donors, and other members of the community in philanthropic support of the college. This individual will report directly to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations. This frontline fundraising professional will actively manage a prospect portfolio, identify and qualify new prospects, make discovery calls, and build a pipeline of new prospects and past donors through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and written communication. Emphasis is to be placed upon soliciting leadership annual gifts ($1,500) and major gifts ($25,000.) Position will complete all necessary preparation and follow up for each meeting, prepare compelling major gift proposals, and document interactions in the alumni/donor database. The position will assist in overseeing the College's annual giving campaign and serve as a liaison to the UGA Central Annual Giving Office. The position will work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents and must have an established track record in building meaningful relationships. The associate director will participate in COE and UGA events and activities with alumni relations and development staff and also in training programs to enhance relevant skills. Travel, as well as some evening and weekend work, is required. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies This position requires the ability to articulate the philanthropic goals and mission of the college with effectiveness and appropriately discern donor interests. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills; motivation and high level of sensitivity; ability to work independently and as part of a team. Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities FRONTLINE FUNDRAISING: --- Conduct a minimum of 12-15 face-to-face meetings each calendar month (150 annually) with prospective and current donors both in and out of state. These will be qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings traveling overnight as appropriate to develop and strengthen donor relationships. --- Monetary annual fundraising goals will be established. --- Electronic, telephone and/or written correspondence in preparation for meetings and in follow-up are required with all activity being recorded in the UGA Alumni/Donor database. --- Prepare timely, accurate, and relevant proposals, presentations, and other fund-raising materials in support of COE priorities. --- Work with Director of Development and Alumni Relations to develop meaningful engagement and solicitation opportunities for donors and prospects. --- Assist in development of overall fundraising strategy for meeting the College's primary funding needs. Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities ANNUAL GIVING: --- Contribute to the overall planning and execution of the College's annual giving program which includes collaborating with - and serving as a liaison to - UGA's Central Annual Giving Office. --- Develop and oversee departmental annual giving appeals (direct mail/phone/electronic) for the college. --- A portion of overall prospect portfolio will be designated for leadership annual gift prospects ($1,500.) --- Leverage in-person visits, telephone, email, and digital/social media outreach to solicit annual gifts. Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities PROSPECT and PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT: --- Manage a balanced prospect portfolio and complete 10-15 significant other interactions per month (in addition to face-to-face meetings noted above.) --- Work collaboratively with UGA Office of Development and Alumni Relations colleagues to discuss prospects and to assist in development of high-quality engagement. (This includes Prospect Management & Research, Regional Directors of Development, and counterparts in other units across campus.) --- Effectively utilize the advancement reporting system at UGA, ensuring that all prospects have a documented and strategic plan in the system. Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities COE RELATIONS and EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS: --- Attend COE Office of Development and Alumni Relations team meetings, University Development meetings, and periodic professional development trainings. --- Work collaboratively with COE DAR staff, Communications team, and faculty and staff of academic departments and programs as needed to benefit COE. Percentage of time 5 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities OTHER: --- Perform additional duties as assigned for COE special events which frequently fall on nights and weekends. --- Participate in a range of UGA events on/off campus to strategically engage prospects. --- Perform additional job-related duties and special projects as assigned. --- Perform administrative duties as needed.
