Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty:
Progressive Care Unit Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per
Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum of 2 years;
first-timers accepted License: Valid GA or Compact license required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Patients are admitted via
direct admission from associated clinics, physician offices, prompt
cares, or other hospitals. Patients may also be admitted through an
emergency room admission. The patient population consists of adults
to geriatrics. The unit cares for intermediate-level monitoring
patients and medical-surgical patients. Common diagnoses include
dysrhythmias, congestive heart failure, acute onset stroke or
stroke symptoms not requiring TPA, acute coronary syndrome, and
myocardial ischemia. The environment is fast-paced with a focus on
patient throughput while providing patient-centered care. Teamwork
is emphasized, and all patients are on hardwire telemetry and
self-monitored by the RN. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:4 with a
total of 12 beds in the unit. Unit systems used include electronic
health records and medication dispensing systems. Scrub color
required is navy blue. Maximum RTO is 7 days. Weekends are not
included, as the unit operates Monday morning through Friday night.
Floating may occur during low census times. If a major holiday
falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to
work it. If two major holidays occur during the period, the
traveler is expected to work both holidays. If three major holidays
occur during the period, the traveler is expected to work two of
the holidays. Compliance is required prior to the start date to
avoid delays. Candidates must complete necessary requirements and
schedule labs soon after acceptance to ensure an on-time start.
