Medical Centers have partnered up and are hiring, a Nursing
Director of Behavioral Health. Responsible for the planning,
implementing, and coordinating of the education, training,
orientation, development, and retention of nursing associates.
Responsible for analyzing and developing programs or initiatives to
improve quality of patient care and physician relations.
Responsible for regulatory compliance and oversight. Serves as
leader and mentor for associates. Has direct oversight for
psychiatric nursing at Aurora Pavilion. Essential Job Duties
Demonstrates effective communication skills through collaboration
with all healthcare team members and the community. Develops
long-range objectives, plans, and programs for the Department of
Psychiatric Nursing integrating those with overall hospital
objectives and plans. Assists in achievement of organization’s
financial goals by managing Aurora’s nursing budget (FTE’s,
productivity, supplies, expenses) and reducing use of registry
through active recruitment and retention efforts. Collaborates with
medical staff to plan, implement, and evaluate new behavioral
health programs. Coordinates the activities of all professional and
support staff within the Aurora Pavilion Nursing Department, and
with other Aurora departments, to assure quality patient care.
Participates in the development of hospital-wide patient care
programs, policies, and procedures that describe how the nursing
care needs of patients or patient populations receiving nursing
care are assessed, evaluated, and met. Participates in the
development and implementation of the hospital’s plan for the
provision of care and scope of services. Implements an effective
and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality
and appropriateness of nursing care delivered to patients of the
Aurora Pavilion including discharge planning. Participates in
Aurora’s Patient Safety Committee, attend FLASH meetings and other
pertinent safety rounding and meetings. Works with educators and
management team to ensure staff competency requirements are met.
Collaborates with Management Staff hospital-wide in planning,
implementing, and documenting educational programs. Coordinates
clinical and psychiatric nursing orientation for staff development
and preceptors. Maintains current affiliation agreements with
educational institutions and overseas clinical rotations for Aurora
Pavilion. Develops and manages programs designed to facilitate the
transition of students from classroom to clinical practice.
Monitors and trends employee turnover to identify opportunities for
action. Ensures that disciplinary action is consistent and in
compliance with current policy, procedure, and practice for
assigned areas. Follows Just Culture principles to ensure safety of
patients and accountability is met. Demonstrates the ability for
future planning to include utilizing strategic thinking, goal and
objective development to tie to system mission. Creates a
safety-conscious work environment where employees feel free to
raise safety concerns without fear. Demonstrate Service Excellence
standards, professionalism, and service recovery if possible.
Facility Suicide Prevention training and ensure education is
maintained Performs other duties as assigned. Graduate of an
accredited or NLN approved RN Program. Master’s degree in Nursing
required withspecialization in behavioral health; behavioral health
experience can be substituted for specialization within masters
degree.Current South Carolina Nursing License: Current CPR
certification. Minimum of 5 years healthcare experience, nursing
preferred. Minimum of 5 years management preferred.
