Job Title: RN Clinical Periop Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Less than 1 year preferred License: RN - Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Must-Have: - Ability to read, write, and speak English - Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills - Ability to function in a fast-paced environment - Excellent time management skills - Strong critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care. The clinical environment is supported through shared governance. Practice is steered by a professional practice model and evidence-based practices. All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold nursing practices as outlined by regulatory standards. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. As a member of the patient services team, the RN Clinical Periop Nurse upholds system policies and procedures. The individual supports service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse performs the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They utilize evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking. Care is individualized and coordinated through effective partnerships. Patient-centered care is provided in a manner that reflects an understanding of cultural diversity. The RN Clinical Periop Nurse partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for communication. This includes bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds. They ensure patients' goals are the focus of the plan of care. The RN coordinates and documents safe, quality patient care. They utilize diverse and inclusive communication methods. The RN demonstrates teamwork and collaboration. They participate in performance improvement initiatives and support stakeholder engagement in clinical care. The RN participates in the development of protocols and procedures. They support efficient and effective use of resources in patient care. The RN Clinical Periop Nurse completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments. They serve as preceptors and mentors for other professional nurses. The RN promotes evidence-based practice and participates in nursing research. They uphold all policies, procedures, and clinical competencies. The RN participates in data collection and poses relevant clinical questions to address practice issues. The RN proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum. They support a healthy work environment and engage in shared governance activities.
