Technician / Technologist Location: Augusta, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,351 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Endoscopy Technician I Profession: GI Tech Specialty: Surgical Techs Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 or 10 hours Experience: No endoscopy experience required License: BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor SGNA-GTS - SGNA GI Tech Specialist or SGNA-GTS-P - SGNA GI Tech Specialist - Provisional (to be completed within 90 days) Certifications: Current BLS certification required SGNA certification required Must-Have: High School Diploma or GED Ability to read, write, and speak the English language Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in patient care Competency in all aspects of GI procedures, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection Ability to multi-task in stressful and emergent situations Strong attention to detail Description: The Endoscopy Technician I has either no experience in endoscopy or is a novice in the endoscopy setting. The technician assists nurses and physicians in providing care for endoscopy patients. They must complete competencies for all basic GI procedures and scope reprocessing. The Technician also supports the area with duties that include preparing the procedure room and sterile field. This ensures a safe patient care environment by gathering all required instruments and supplies. They serve as an endoscopy procedure assistant, transport patients and equipment, stock and maintain supplies, and care for endoscopes and their accessories. They demonstrate a strong sense of infection control in the GI setting. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Proficiency in all general endoscope procedures, equipment, and supplies, including cleaning endoscopes and accessories. Fulfills all essential functions of the GI Lab Technician and functions in all areas of the Endoscopy lab. Prepares for scheduled, emergent, urgent, and add-on endoscopic procedures by ensuring necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are ready. Demonstrates the skill to expedite and organize preparation for unexpected events while providing direction and support to less experienced team members. Functions independently within the scope of their position and anticipates the needs of physicians and nursing staff during procedures. Proficiently operates all equipment in GI and provides technical assistance during procedures. Troubleshoots equipment as needed and manipulates various pieces of equipment and the endoscope as directed by the physician. May be required to take emergency call after normal operating hours and weekends rotated as needed. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of infection control principles and standards and takes a proactive role in quality improvement monitoring and plans. Additional Responsibilities: Demonstrates effective and professional communication skills and works as a collaborative team member. Assists with the planning of daily assignments and distribution of work to promote department efficiency. Contributes to the trial and evaluation of new equipment and supplies.
