America) Position Summary: The Surgical Technologist is an
unlicensed individual who performs routine and delegated duties
according to the standards of practice of hospital and unit
policies. They function under the supervision of a Registered
Nurse. They assist with delegated patient care according to their
level of education, training, and demonstrated competency. They
serve primarily as a scrub person, assist the Registered Nurse in
circulating duties, and perform activities related to sterile
processing, material management, and environmental controls.
Position Requirements: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from
a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Completion
of vocational/technical training in Surgical Technology. Additional
years of relevant work experience can be used in lieu of the
minimum education requirement. Current American Heart Association
or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS). Preferred
Requirements: Associates Degree in Surgical Tech. CST Certification
