Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a
float pool Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching
hospital in Macon, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Tele
experience. Details - Float pool assignment covering all Med/Surg
Tele units within the hospital - Large academic teaching hospital
with Level 1 Trauma designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke
Center (637 licensed beds) - Med/Surg Tele patient population
including acute/chronic illness, cardiac (post-cath, CHF, A-fib),
post-surgical (general, ortho, trauma), and common co-morbidities
such as diabetes, hypertension, and infections - Patient ratios: RN
1:4–6, supported by LPN (1:4–6) and CNA (up to 1:14) - Required
tele skills include monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms,
post-cath care, TR band management, and post-cath groin site
management (no sheath pulls) - Required drip management includes
insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and
nicardipine — titration for HR only, not BP - Required clinical
skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV
maintenance, glucommander, patient education, and discharge
planning - EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pumps: Alaris;
medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitors: Philips - 12-hour night
shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week - Weekend rotation: 5–6 shifts per
6-week scheduling cycle - No on-call requirements Requirements -
Active RN license — GA or Compact license required - Current BLS
certification required; ACLS preferred - Minimum 2 years of
Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience
within the last year - Epic EMR experience required - Last 4 digits
of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration - At least
1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a
Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 1 day of facility orientation with
educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- EKG competency exam required during onboarding - Certification in
Med/Surg nursing is a plus - Departmental support includes CNAs, a
unit secretary (on unit 7a–11p, house-wide after), charge nurse,
discharge nurses, a resource team, PICC team, central telemetry
monitoring, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage -
RNs are responsible for drawing labs off CVLs; most units use
lab-collect phlebotomy for other draws - Holiday coverage required
for 75% of major holidays: Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or
12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1 - All time-off requests must be submitted
through the manager for approval - RN scrub color: Navy - No radius
rule — local candidates in GA are accepted at the same rate -
Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an
AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be
