Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department
needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists
with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing
all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and
ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures
requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in
utilizing equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases.
Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up equipment to
provide imaging services and positions patients for procedures.
Verifies proper clinician order for procedures. Obtains complete
clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for
contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the
administration of contrast media to ensure patient safety and
comfort. Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and
markers utilized appropriately. Reviews CT/radiographic images for
clinically acceptable results. Releases patients after completing
imaging studies. Responds to emergency situations and ensures
maintenance of life support equipment. Assists other technologists
in all modalities when needed. Observes patient condition and
evaluates situations requiring physician intervention. Verifies
correct identity of patients using two unique identifiers prior to
procedures. Ensures patient privacy and comfort. Maintains patient
dignity throughout the exam/procedure. Demonstrates competence in
determining and applying appropriate procedures, equipment,
supplies, and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule,
time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within
designated time frames. Follows physician instructions during
procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and
operating power injection. Uses critical thinking skills to resolve
issues. Communicates effectively with patients and their families.
Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. Understands and documents
pre-procedural verification processes. Demonstrates understanding
of pre-and-post procedural care. Prepares patients for procedures
and maintains sterile techniques. Maintains competency with
venipuncture. Adjusts techniques to minimize patient radiation
exposure while maintaining image quality. Reports equipment
malfunctions to the supervisor or service provider. Cleans,
disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection
control policies. Patiently and clearly explains the purpose and
nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety. Ensures patients’
questions and concerns are satisfactorily addressed. Participates
in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides
patients with preparatory instructions and explanations of
procedures. Documentation is concise, legible, and uses precise
terminology. Reads department communications daily and follows
through with assignments. Completes mandatory education without
prompting. Produces acceptable images consistently, as evidenced by
feedback and audits. Ensures equipment is operational prior to use
by checking calibration and functionality. Sends all studies to
PACS immediately after completion. Handles all studies reported
after hours as applicable. Completes all studies in RIS before
finalizing in PACS. Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining
department cleanliness and order. Transports and positions
patients, assisting them on and off procedure tables. Handles
patient charging activities promptly. Applies shielding,
supportive, and immobilization devices and equipment. Willingly
assists others and performs routine clerical duties when necessary.
Keeps supervisor informed about responsibilities and notifications
regarding any issues. Maintains productivity rates equal to
colleagues. Operates all workstations associated with the
department effectively. Maintains compliance with all relevant
standards and regulations. Available to take on-call duties when
necessary. Performs other assigned duties as required. Complies
