have an excellent full time employment opportunity for a Board
Certified or Board Eligible Neurology physician to join an
established practice located in Athens, Georgia.
The selected physician will join two Neurologists in this 100%
outpatient practice that is committed to true clinical excellence
in patient care, providing medical treatment which is grounded in
progressive, evidence-based medicine, and utilizing the most
current innovations and technologies. This practice is passionate
about caring for the person as a whole: mind, body and spirit.
Neurologists and staff strive to promote the highest level of
functioning for every patient by addressing each individuals needs
with compassion and kindness.
Experienced physicians as well as those who will be completing
training are encouraged to apply.
St. Mary's has been a leader in neurology since 1973, when the
hospital introduced the first medical CT scanner to our region.
Certified by the Joint Commission since 2004 as a Primary Stroke
Center, St. Mary's today provides 24/7 emergency diagnostics and
Alteplase administration at all three of our hospitals, with
specialist supplementation via the REACH telestroke system,
achieving administration rates and patient outcomes that are
significantly better than national averages. The facility now also
offesr part-time emergency mechanical thrombectomy in conjunction
with a community-based neurointervionist, as well as other
scheduled and emergent neurointerventional biplane procedures. In
addition, the team provides: advanced neurological testing,
including a dedicated neurological diagnostic laboratory, CT and
MRI capabilities, and sleep studies; the region's only inpatient
rehabilitation center; and outpatient rehab, wellness, nutrition,
and prevention services. Inpatient neurology care is provided by a
full time team of neurohospitalists, and a full-time RN stroke
coordinator is employed. Numerous community education and awareness
programs, including a free monthly stroke support group is offered.
St. Mary's has received the American Heart Association/American
Stroke Association Get With the Guidelines Gold-Plus Award for
stroke care nine years in a row and has been named to the AHA/ASA
Target: Stroke Honor Roll seven years in a row.
