SummaryThe Unit Legal Advisor & Associate General Counsel role will
provide primary legal support to the Unit Director and Unit
executive-level management on a variety of legal issues relating to
the Unit's research activities, including policies and procedures;
local, state, and federal laws; and Federal Acquisition
Regulation (FAR) and non-FAR contracting, under general supervision
of the Deputy General Counsel, Research. Facilitates coordination
and consultation on all other general legal matters with Office of
the General Counsel, including Office of Ethics & Compliance.
This position will interact on a consistent basis with: the Unit to
which it is assigned and Institute leadership and staff, General

Duty 1 - Serves as the primary point of contact for legal matters
impacting assigned Unit and provides legal advice and counsel to
Unit leadership in connection with Unit research activities,
including applicable federal, and state laws; University System of
Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Unit policies and
procedures; and the FAR.
Job Duty 2 - Provide legal review of proposed and established Unit
and Institute policies, procedures, and governance processes;
provide advice and counsel for the general business and on-going
operations of the Unit
Job Duty 3 - Consult with Deputy General Counsel, Research, and
other appropriate teams regarding litigation and administrative
hearings impacting the Unit, and oversees any Unit representation
as it pertains to Unit (including reporting on litigation,
disputes, dispute resolution, and other indications of Unit risk);
provide legal advice on contracts and other transactional matters
pertinent to Unit
Job Duty 4 - Manages and supervises the legal work of assigned team
members, to include assigning and delegating duties, assigning
contract reviews and approvals to team members, and monitoring the
activities and progress against established goals. Provide
performance reviews and timely feedback to direct reports regarding
performance, execution, and contribution.
Job Duty 5 - Advises Unit's leadership on complex projects and
legal matters, in consultation with Office of the General Counsel,
in order to anticipate, identify and mitigate risk.
Job Duty 6 - Collaborate with OGC colleagues and business partners
to resolve issues impacting assigned Unit; interact with external
counsel and representatives of the state Attorney General Office
and Board of Regents legal staff on pending matters and legal
issues.
Job Duty 7 - Lead and execute transformational projects related to
Unit legal and compliance priorities; support the planning,
execution and allocation of resources needed to be running and
completing the projects.
Job Duty 8 - Recommend, develop and facilitate Unit-wide education
and training on legal topics and ethics and compliance issues
impacting the assigned unit.
Job Duty 9 - Perform other job-related duties as assignedRequired
QualificationsEducational Requirements
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Other Required Qualifications
Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
o US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Department of Defense
Security Clearance
o Active bar membership with the State of Georgia, or ability to
become licensed in Georgia within 6
months of employment

Eight to ten years of job-related experiencePreferred
QualificationsThis position works with the Georgia Tech Research
Institute (GTRI). The GTRI Legal Advisor and Associate General
Counsel reports to the Deputy General Counsel, Research and serves
as the primary Office of the General Counsel (OGC) point of contact
and legal advisor for GTRI. This role will partner with GTRI
leadership, ethics and compliance colleagues, and external
Institute partners to solve complex business and legal challenges
impacting GTRI. The GTRI Chief Legal Advisor will also be
responsible for leading the GTRI legal team and GTRI Ethics and
Compliance Office (ECO), including day-to-day operations, and
providing leadership and development for team members. The
individual in this role will have proven experience in
research-related matters, proactive solution-oriented approaches to
reduce risk, and a proven track record of service delivery
experience to internal and external stakeholders.
This role will build and sustain close working relationships with
the Institute's Deputy General Counsel for Research, GTRI leaders,
OGC peers and team members, and business partners to provide legal
guidance and support and to ensure information is shared
diplomatically and transactions are negotiated and completed
effectively.
This position requires a minimum of 10 years of job-related
experience, supervisory experience, and membership in the Georgia
Bar, or ability to become a member within 6 months of
employment.Proposed Salary$187,676 to $216,306Location: Atlanta,
