Duties/Responsibilities Please approximate the percentage of time spent on each task (out of 100%) during a typical work week. List these tasks in order of importance, with the most critical task coming first. Do not list more than 6 entries – do not go below 5% time per assigned duty.Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe postdoc’s role will be primarily research and project-management based within the Department of Anthropology and Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases. Special considerations will be given to candidates with expertise in socio-ecological data collection, including qualitative and quantitative data analysis, archival and geospatial data analysis, and research experience in the U.S. and Latin America. There are a series of deliverables for the position linked to key duties including publications and project reports. The postdoc will assist with ethnographic and survey based research, coordinate and implement anthropological and historical data collection, and assist with permit management.Percentage of time50Duties/ResponsibilitiesOther duties include assisting with the management and analysis of socio-ecological data; mapping in QGIS/ArcGIS and statistical and spatial analysis; working directly with UGA and Panamanian collaborators; and potential management of undergraduate and graduate student assistants on the project. There will be opportunities to collaborate on additional publications and other deliverables related to this project.Percentage of time50Position Details Classification TitlePost-Doctoral Associate ADFLSAExemptUGA Job CodeJob FamilyFTE1.00Minimum QualificationsPosition SummaryWe seek a post-doctoral research associate to assist in studying the social dimensions of a coupled natural and human systems (CNH2) grant focused on understanding the social and ecological determinants of multi-host vector-borne infections in dynamic tropical landscapes. The primary role of the individual will be to assist in the collection, analysis and interpretation of information related to the social dimensions of the project focused on land-use change, human and animal health in Panama. The position is based in the Department of Anthropology (via the Tanner and Velásquez Runk labs) at the University of Georgia.Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in PositionPh.D. in Anthropology or related field from a CHEA accredited institution or international equivalent. Experience in Anthropology or related social science fields related to infectious disease research or background in coupled human-natural system research is desirable.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Experience with survey research, mixed research methods, and strong quantitative skills including experience with STATA, R, QGIS/ArcGIS-Multimedia data presentation and website skills with Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, and/or related software is preferable.-Language abilities to work in both English and Spanish.-A track record of presenting and publishing research in scholarly forums is desired.Physical DemandsWhile performing duties of this job, the individual will regularly operate a computer. The individual will travel around UGA campus as needed for meetings. Additionally, they will travel for research to Panama and professional conferences.
