About the College/Unit/Department

The mission of the Office of Institutional Diversity is to provide institutional leadership to the focused effort to enhance and maintain a diverse and inclusive environment for learning, teaching, research and service at The University of Georgia. OID goals include:
Enhancing diversity awareness and education through training and learning opportunities for faculty, students and staff throughout the university. Promoting awareness of UGAs diversity efforts by supporting diversity related events across the UGA campuses. Establishing and defining strategic partnerships between the Office of Institutional Diversity and other units. Identifying and obtaining additional resources that will enhance and support institutional diversity endeavors.

General support for the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Certificate in Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) program. Serve as a secondary point-of-contact for Training and Development, CDI instructors, and CDI participants; manage the Diversity Training email account, CDI Completion Form submissions, and other inquiries.

Percentage of time



Planning, coordination, and staffing support for Diversity Education engagement activities, programs, and media, including, but not limited to: CDI Pathways, Dialogues in Diversity, and Ad-hoc educational sessions.

Percentage of time



Provide support for assigned programs, maintain program calendars and timelines, develop marketing materials and communication plans, and reserve event spaces and rentals.

Attend departmental staff meetings and attend meetings with and on behalf of the Assistant Director of Diversity Education, as appropriate.

Participate in ongoing program assessment and evaluation for all diversity education programming in the Office of Institutional Diversity.

Position Summary

The Coordinator of Diversity Education, will work closely with and report to the Assistant Director of Diversity Education in the Office of Institutional Diversity. The coordinator will have key responsibilities in supporting the creation, facilitation, and implementation of diversity education for faculty, staff, students, etc.
This position is a doctoral-level, fiscal year (12-month) graduate assistantship. The schedule has a commitment of 16 hours per week, with the flexibility to work nights and weekends, as necessary.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Doctoral student with an interest in diversity, inclusion, and professional development.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Willingness to learn and contribute to institutional diversity goals and outcomes.
Strong organizational and task management skills and detail-oriented.
Collegial and collaborative approach to engaging with others.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong culturally competent interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
