Job Description:

Position Title: Human Resources Manager

Reports to: Managing Director

Essential Responsibility: This position is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the Company’s Human Resources activities to maximize the strategic use of Human Resources and effectively maintain functions including compensation, benefits, payroll, recruitment, personnel policies, regulatory compliance, and employee relations.

List of Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manages HR Functions by consulting with other members of Management on issues of hiring, firing and disciplining Staff; by coordinating the performance management process for Staff, including Job Descriptions, Annual Goals, Performance Appraisals, Staff Handbook, etc.; by managing the recruitment and orientation process for new hires, including all related paperwork; by managing the termination process, including the exit interview and processing termination paperwork; by ensuring legal compliance of Company policies and procedures; by making recommendations to Senior Management regarding changes in Company policies and procedures; by monitoring HR trends (i.e. salary, benefits, etc.), conducting wage surveys, and providing recommendations for improvements as needed; by preparing internal and external reports; by troubleshooting problems in a timely manner and seeking third-party advice as necessary; and by answering questions from Staff.
  • Manages Benefits Plans by providing benefits information to Staff; by answering Staff questions regarding benefits and assisting in their communication with carriers and providers; by negotiating with providers for the best terms and conditions; by coordinating the annual marketing and renewal of benefits plans; by working with management to maintain the established budget; by benchmarking plans for competitiveness within the market; and by communicating with all concerned parties regarding any changes to carriers and/or plan design.
  • Maintains Records by maintaining personnel and personal records and updating records as necessary; by communicating with Staff about requests to view their information; and by ensuring confidentiality of records in accordance with State and Federal law.
  • Represents The Company by acting on behalf of the Company in investigations and hearings; by coordinating and conferring with legal counsel and consultants; by participating in the Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Employer's Association, and other business-related organizations; and by responding to questions from outside parties.
  • Ensures Effective Operations by making sure that the division functions productively; by establishing guidelines; by proposing budgets and making recommendations to Senior Management; and by ensuring that Staff perform assigned tasks accurately, allowing the Company to maximize financial performance and limit risk.
  • Keeps Senior Management Informed by participating in meetings; by reporting problems to Senior Management verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems; and by recommending changes for improvements in the Company's functions to Senior Management.
  • Supervises Staff by providing direction and delegating responsibilities to subordinate Staff; by evaluating work performed by subordinate Staff; by training Staff when necessary; by providing subordinate Staff with regular feedback; by conducting Performance Appraisals; and by contributing to employment decisions (i.e. promotions, salary adjustments, termination, etc.).
  • Complies with Federal, State and Local Requirements by studying existing and new regulations; by enforcing adherence to requirements; by anticipating new regulations; by filing reports as necessary; and by advising Senior Management as needed.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public and Personnel Administration, or any related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience


  • At least 4 years professional experience with benefits and Human Resources administration, including 3 years in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. SPHR or PHR certification is preferred.
