Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE: Assisting patients during the onsite registration and arrival processes for scheduled and unscheduled visits in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, conducting insurance verification for "walk-in" visits as necessary as well as acting as a leader to other team members. The PAS Team Lead services one or more hospital facilities and reports to the entity-specific Supervisor of Patient Access Services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Liaise appropriately with supervisor to communicate all obstacles, regulatory challenges and system deficiencies that the team faces. 2. Perform "special projects" per supervisor requests. 3. Maintain a clear understanding and working knowledge of all information systems required for job scope in order to best be equipped to consistently recognize and troubleshoot problems; assist other team members as necessary. 4. Develop "super user" capabilities in Epic applications and all other related information systems, tools, technologies, and processes; assist other employees as needed to ensure all tools are fully utilized to create an efficient and effective department. 5. Ensure the team maintains a daily focus on attaining productivity standards, recommending new approaches for enhancing performance and productivity when appropriate 6. Prepare monthly work schedule and maintain equipment and supplies. 7. Serve as trainer/preceptor and as a resource to registrars. 8. Monitor and direct patient registration process in assigned registration areas. 9. Maintain availability to be on call for weekend emergencies on a rotating schedule. 10. Strive for positive patient experience. 11. Perform collections and cashiering functions and refer patients to Financial Counseling when appropriate. 12. Ensure that financially cleared patients go directly to the area of service in order to receive treatment. 13. Perform real-time registration, insurance eligibility and benefits verification for unscheduled visits, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department visits; obtain all necessary patient signatures and information at time of arrival. 14. Ensure that all activities related to hospital collection activities meet department requirements, maximize revenue collection, and achieve leading practice levels of performance. 15. Daily focus on attaining productivity standards, recommending new approaches for enhancing performance and productivity when appropriate. 16. Strive for positive patient experience. 17. Adhere to Piedmont organizational policies and procedures for relevant location and job scope. 18. Complete and/or attend mandatory training and education sessions within approved organizational guidelines and timeframes. 19. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School graduate or GED. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least three (3) previous years of related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience, preferably within a registration admissions setting. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: N/A ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least four (4) previous years of related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience, preferably within a registration admissions setting. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university preferred. Previous Epic experience. #LIPOST #GD
