immunology, bioinformatics, microbiology, cancer biology,
neuroscience or related disciplines.
Position Summary
The Department of Pathology at the University of Georgia invites
applications for two full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at
the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the area of
translational genomics and precision medicine. We are seeking
outstanding and innovative candidates with active research programs
to join the Precision One Health Hiring Initative at the University
of Georgia. The selected faculty members will utilize molecular and
bioinformatic tools to identify unique antigenic and pathogenic
characteristics, biomarkers, and distinctive metabolic pathways of
diseases of human and animal populations to better understand
disease etiology, transmission dynamics, pathogenesis, and host and
environmental factors that contribute to disease progression.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record working with
genomic (or other -OMICS) or bioinformatic tools in defining
disease pathogenesis, epidemiology, and diagnostic biomarkers in
disciplines that would include infectious disease, immunology,
oncology, and developmental and neurodegenerative diseases.
Successful candidates for this position will have the opportunity
to participate in an interdisciplinary precision medicine program
that includes a team of basic and applied scientists, engineers,
frontline practitioners, policymakers and communications experts
all working together with OMICS experts to translate basic findings
from the bench to the bedside or industry, with the goal of
improving the health and wellbeing of humans and animals. This
position requires some teaching duties at the undergraduate level.
The Precision One Health initiative at UGA seeks to hire a total 16
new faculty positions that will focus on three pillars of disease
management including 1) pathogenesis and diagnostics (this
position), and 2) preventive measures and 3) therapeutic
intervention.
The College of Veterinary Medicine will utilize this initiative to

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or
Certification
Priority consideration will be given to candidates who have
completed 1 to 2 years of relevant post-doctoral training program
and/or have a health professional degree (DVM, MD, PharmD, DDS,
etc.) with relevant research background; and have potential for
securing extramural funding.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
A record of research productivity as it pertains to extramural
funding, publications and outreach that is commensurate with the
stage of their professional career and aligned with the areas of
research and scholarship associated with this position.
A commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate, graduate and
professional programs.
Demonstrated ability for multidisciplinary collaborative research
and collaboration with faculty in the CVM and the University.
