Position Summary
This is a 19 hour/week position at 4-H Tidelands, a Georgia 4-H
program facility located on Jekyll Island, GA. Primary
responsibilities include assisting with the upkeep of live exhibit
collection including reptiles/marine aquaria and educating the
general public in live coastal species exhibit gallery. Live
exhibit upkeep includes; feeding and carrying out
daily/weekly/monthly exhibit cleaning/maintenance schedules, and
maintaining care records. Additional responsibilities include
assisting in the planning and delivery of coastal ecology programs
for youth and adults. Includes; leading school groups, spring break
science, and summer programs/day camps, canoeing, and potentially
leading kayak tours. Programs and exhibits focus on marine
ecosystems and include topics such as marsh & beach ecology,
herpetology, invertebrate studies, etc. Assist with general
operations and maintenance of the facility. Includes; weekend work
and occasional evenings.

Physical Demands
This position includes strenuous activity and physical demands such
as extended time in the sun while teaching outdoors and/or
assisting with canoe/kayak activities, lifting, carrying, etc.
Physically bending, lifting and carrying canoes/kayaks (55 to 75
pounds) to and from the water, and on and off the trailer. This
position will perform canoe and/or kayak rescue maneuvers under
various water conditions. There are also other physical demands as
noted and in assisting with facility and/or exhibit maintenance
related needs.

exhibits- includes care for reptiles, fresh water, and marine

maintenance of life support systems.
