Tenure Status Non-Tenure Track Minimum Qualifications Master's or higher degree in a disciplinary area related to the position's responsibilities Position Summary The Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for the position of Lecturer with expertise in American Sign Language. This is a non-tenure-track position to begin in August 2019. The appointment will be for the regular 9-month academic year. Additional opportunities for summer employment may be available. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities will include teaching courses in ASL as a second language and furthering the development of ASL courses and programs. The successful applicant will be required to : --- Teach courses in ASL as a second language, currently at the undergraduate level --- Participate in the development and revision of existing ASL programs, curricula, and student assessments --- Participate in recruitment, advisement, and retention of students in ASL prog Additional Requirements --- Master's Degree in ASL, Linguistics, Language Education, Deaf Education, ASL Interpreting, Education of the Deaf, Special Education or closely related field. --- 5 years of demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching ASL --- Native or native-like fluency in ASL (ASLPI proficiency level of 4 or better) Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification --- Relevant background in ASL, Linguistics, Language Education, Deaf Education, ASL Interpreting, Education of the Deaf, Special Education or closely related field Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies --- Professional-level fluency in written English.
