  • Lead and manage team of US bioprocess experts in BIAH US vaccine manufacturing locations.
  • Manage and prioritize complex portfolio of bioprocess lifecycle management and new product development projects at BIAH US sites.
  • Drive the execution of the Technoshift program and other strategic projects at US sites.
  • Scout and evaluate new bioprocess technologies and drive implementation as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders from Global Innovation and Global Supply as well as external partners to continuously improve bioprocess operations at US sites.
  • Direct the representation of Global Supply by Bioprocess team members in New Product Development and Lifecycle Management product teams.
  • Foster and manage exchange of information between various vaccine manufacturing locations across the BIAH network, establish best practices and increase bioprocess expertise at the sites and within the MSAT team.

Duties & Responsibilities\:

  • Direct a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Scientists and/or Project Leaders. Responsibilities include\:
    • Enable robust SME team collaboration and development by fostering diversity and transparency
    • Ensure team member accountabilities to defined roles (e.g. Project Leader, Contributor, SME)
    • Lead and manage direct reports within team, including budget, development of talent, etc.
    • Ensure active team participation in MSAT Circles to  adapt MSAT processes and support MSAT team evolution
  • Drive implementation of new technologies to establish innovative processes/materials/methods across the Global Supply AH network.  Responsibilities include\:
    • Scout technologies/materials/methods from industry to assess potential, and define business case for manufacturing processes supporting business objectives and product pipeline
    • Define with AH Global Innovation future-oriented harmonized manufacturing technologies and processes
    • Develop technology implementation roadmap including financial and personnel resources
  • Establish and ensure governance to maintain harmonized technology standards for the Global Supply AH network.  Responsibilities include\:
    • Develop global Technology standards & processes collaboratively (e.g. with Sites, Global Innovation)
    • Deploy proposed Technology standards at internal / external sites (including on-site support)
    • Ensure Technology standard & process governance
  • Direct and execute strategically important technical projects and programs.  Responsibilities include\:
    • Direct and govern diverse portfolio of technical cross-functional projects and initiatives, ensuring consistent successful performance across project teams
    • Ensure development activities are conform to cGMP, internal/regulatory requirements & accepted standards
    • Initiate & execute operational process development activities over the entire product lifecycle
    • Ensure technical support for products and processes at internal/external sites (including on-site support)
  • Steer, develop & maintain Local MSAT competencies across the Global Supply AH network and ensure critical mass of technical expertise.  Responsibilities include\:
    • Facilitate Global & Local MSAT talent management and development through global activities (e.g. EBT, Technology Circles)
    • Provide direction and prioritization for activities at selected Local MSAT units
    • Ensure interdisciplinary exchange of product and technological topics with adjoining disciplines, e.g. Global Innovation, Engineering, Life Cycle Management
    • Ensure critical technical information and lessons learned are captured via knowledge management system
    • Support talent development and succession planning of critical expertise across AH Supply network
    • Ensure AH local sites have succession plans in place for critical MSAT resources

 

Requirements\:

  • Master or Ph.D. Degree from an accredited institution in Science (Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry or Biochemistry preferred) with a minimum of five (5) years of direct industry experience; Or
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Science (Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry or Biochemistry preferred) with a minimum of ten (10) years of direct industry experience.
  • Additional qualification in Business (Supply Chain, Economics).
  • Professional Certification in Scientific field or Project Management preferred.
  • Professional track record of experience in Scientific and Operational functions (Research, Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering) with increasing skills and responsibilities. 
  • Longtime experience in a combination of these areas.
  • Professional track record of experience in vaccine manufacturing operation and/or bioprocess development.
  • Professional track record of successful multiproject management across multiple locations.
  • Professional track record of experience leading teams of technical experts and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience working within regulated environments such as FDA, EMA, & EPA required.
  • Strong international/intercultural negotiations skills
  • Experience in Agile Management preferred.
  • Proven experience in different Operations Functions and in other AHBU Functions or similar activities.
  • Proven experience in multiple Sites or Businesses preferred.
  • Perform competently within complex matrix structure of corporate, global and local functions.
  • Understand and manage multidisciplinary & international requirements in transfers, considering issues related to manufacturing technology, quality, regulatory and GMP requirements as well as supply chain, financial and strategic aspects,
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects related to product manufacturing and supply (e.g. chemical, biological and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, Quality, Supply Chain Management and Risk Management, IP, CMC Regulatory Requirements) that enables balanced decisions on priorities and accurate risk analysis.
  • Good knowledge of financial/business impact of technologies on products/brands, e.g. CCM, CoGs/ International Costs, total product costs, NPV calculation, profitability.
  • Excellent knowledge about roles, responsibilities, governance structures and decision-making processes within AHBU and Corporate Functions; in addition excellent understanding of holacracy principles.
  • Knowledge of BIAH supply network (sites, mission, technologies) and strategic CMOs.
  • Continually develops a comprehensive internal / external network.
  • Actively uses disruptive thinking to foster innovation and to creatively resolve the root causes of persistent problems.
  • Fluency in English required – additional skills in German, French, Portuguese or Chinese are an asset.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
